šŸŽ»Ā About The Academy

Mission: We are building a world-class pre-college for classical music study in the Southeast.

About WPMA: WPMA is a private, conservatory-style music academy in North Atlanta. We offer music education programming taught by the finest musicians and pedagogues in all of Georgia. In addition to taking 1-on-1 instrument lessons with faculty, students at WPMA study music theory & sight-reading, participate in monthly recitals, studio classes, masterclasses with guest artists, and perform in chamber and orchestra ensembles.

Each year, academy students win Concertmaster, Principal, and leadership positions in NYO, NYO2, ASYO, EYSO, All-state, and other top youth orchestras, participate in leading music festivals, and are prize winners in state-wide, national, and international chamber music and concerto competitions.

The academy and its students also benefit deeply from its relationship with the Atlanta Festival Academy (AFA)—a sister organization known for its annual flagship Summer Festival where advanced student musicians are recruited nationally and internationally perform in chamber music ensembles and in a full-orchestra alongside renown soloists. The festival commonly brings elite artist faculty and pedagogues from leading professional orchestras and conservatories to give masterclasses and work with the students. AFA also runs a biennial Young Artist Competition, a fast-growing financial aid program for students, and a year-round youth orchestras for high-level students, complete with sectionals and exciting soloists.

Our students have not only been admitted to Juilliard, Peabody Conservatory, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, New England Conservatory, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and other leading music conservatories, but also Harvard, Yale, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania, MIT, Stanford, University of Chicago, Brown, Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, Duke and more. The discipline, caliber of students, and music education opportunities are the highest you will find in all of the Southeast.
